Haven't done much bay fishing in a little while, decided to hit mission bay this AM. Fished 7-10am, shrimp on one rod and a LC on another. Nothing on the LC, 2 rock wrasse, a spotty, largemouth blenny, micro calico and a small shovelnose on the shrimp. Took the wrasse home for tacos. Nothing exciting or impressive today, although wrasse tacos are pretty tasty. Fish and game stopped me and chatted for a few.

It’s still a tug! Kinda like a shot....Enough shots and you still get hammered!

So what is the ruling ? 10 little ones equals 1 YF or YFT?

    30 wrasse = 1 yft haha
Fishin is fishin...not close to that rush from a tuna, but a lot more economical. It's nice to not share the rocks with 43 dudes and slack braid everywhere lol

I gave him a rundown of what I had caught and showed him the 2 rock wrasse on ice in my bag. He said I was doing better than the other guys he had encountered so far this morning. So guess I was in a better biting spot than some.. lol..

Very cool dude!!! What an awesome species mix, that would make for a great video. I’ve been using the #6 mosquito hooks from owner and squid targeting funky species like this but have mainly encountered rays. Any advice?

Ditto what Bear6813 said, a whole lot of species will bite shrimp. This was off mostly pretty short casts just past the edge of the rocks. If you want to link up and fish together sometime and shoot some video, send me a PM.

Shrimp, mussel, ghost shrimp chunks... I don't use fin bait or squid until after dark...
