Hey everyone, been meaning to post for a while. However, it seems whenever I fish at the jetty (my main fishing spot nowadays) I do well but I forget to post it. So I'll cut to the chase here since this isn't something I've ever caught myself. If any of you have ever fished the jetty you'll probably see a spear fisherman staying close to the rocks, they usually end up with a couple perch here and there. The other day I saw some dude pull out what I assume to be a ling (unless it was a 24 inch rockfish with some mean *** teeth and a mouth bluer than the Smurfs) and it got me thinking. Are there any legal (if any at all) lings at the jetty? And if any of you have ever caught one, how do you go about doing such a thing? My jetty bucketlist gets smaller every trip but the ling has eluded me for too long.

Proof I actually catch at the jetty, some pics from the last two sessions from mid April

There are legal lings there, sounds like a cabezon though. I have caught both from the jetty in the past, usually in the colder months

I agree. Prob a cab, the mouth seems like a give away. What I haven't heard of people catching anymore this far south is monkey faced eels.

Sure hope so, but it def looked like a ling. It for sure was over 22 inches, and it had the slimmer figure of a ling rather than a cab. the ling eludes me
