A buddy of mine saved a spot on the Mission Belle for a charter, and couldn't pass up on it! Started out the day as usual, around a 2 hour boat ride out to the grounds. First stop was early in the day, no fish wanted to play except for 1 YFT on the flat fall. Kept going, and stopped on a school, started to boil. We were the lucky boat, found the right fish that wanted to cooperate! Ended up with 8 YFT for the day, and plenty of good laughs and excitement!

It was insane watching the crew put on a clinic of how to catch fish! Everytime I looked over, the crew was handing off a rod, hooking another bait, and handing another rod off!

What worked - 20-25lb line, size 1 or 1/0 hooks, picking a good, lively bait and constantly changing your baits. Most bites were within 30 seconds. Lastly, pay attention to where the fish are, both boils and who's hooking up.

Nice, you guys found them. Fluro or straight mono on your bait?

Yup, Steve and Bryan were working deck yesterday. Looked like Steve P was doing well, he was certainly killing the fish!

I was using 20lb flouro for all the fish, it wasn't needed. It was already tied on my setup so I kept fishing. Straight mono was getting bit

Nice size right there, you can fish them all day with the inshore rods. Anyone throwing iron or mega bait types on the bow?

There were some people throwing irons and megabait/coltsnipers on the bow, not too many on them. I was able to scratch one biter on a coltsniper by casting out, letting it sink, and winding in as fast as possible. Outside of that, everyone else was catching on the flyline.

One of my funner trips was on that size YFT when I opened a brand new megabait and caught 9 in a row until they chewed the paint off of it so bad they wouldn't eat it anymore. I was just bouncing them over the rail and made a big pile of YFT by the forward bait tank, Deckhand kinda yelled at me it was funny I just laughed and walked them all back to my own sack.
