There are different reasons to release water in different areas, example hydro electric dams which there are a lot and also areas that are prone to floods, I know in Missouri, when it floods, that can’t safely release water quick enough and disaster occurs. Pretty sure in so cal, if army core was running the dams, they wouldn’t just randomly release water, and also, the dams probably wouldn’t be in the shape they are. The core dams ive seen are well maintained.
Every one is entitled to their opinion though

I've seen Joel Anderson's survey posted in a few different places! Unfortunately, he's pretty much on his own. I heard a couple other Supervisors say it's a good idea, but they aren't putting any effort into funding it to make it happen..typical political lip service!!! Joel actually worked to get our lakes open last time when they shut them down.

I don't understand why there are 10 people fishing on the lake at any given time and 200 people having a picnic, walking, jogging, feeding ducks, just hanging out, etc, but only the fisherpeople have to pay.

California has gotten so weird or I've just gotten too old. When I was a kid, spending the gas and $4 on a permit after getting out of school to fish for a few hours seemed like a great deal. I'm all but retired at this point, and I feel like I'm being robbed at gunpoint between the gas and the permit these days. Especially compared to other states I've fished in regularly where you just get a license, find some water and enjoy yourself. The price on out of state yearly licenses is nuts most places, and still cheaper than permits from going fishing a few days a week for a month here.

Rather than fix their budgets they'll just price out fisherman, then abandon the fishing programs altogether.

I'm sure that's what the City is thinking...but I truly can't think of all the work the City employees are doing for me.....? I do see them cleaning up all the trash from the picnic people and walker/joggers! They probably are spending most their time cleaning and stocking restrooms from those same non fishing people..the fishermen are not where their time and money is going!!!! Its time for the Board of Supervisors to start charging the park users just like the fishermen. Heck, just charge them a $1 a day and they would make $1000s a week...way more than than they make off the fishermen! I don't care that's there's some law that you can't charge people to use the city parks...no difference between those people and the fishermen! Change the law, if it really exists!!!!!

My wife just got back from camping at a lake in Prescott, Az. The lake charges a $5 per day entrance fee. So no matter what you are doing on or near the lake, you pay the same.

Oklahoma has a year pass you can buy as a resident where you can visit any park including lakes to fish at any given time for how ever long you want. I think I read $60/year. Bypasses any use fee and it’s per car regardless of how many people are with you.

I always wished we could purchase an annual lake use/ launch fee here in ca. even @$100, I’d buy it no issue
