Its almost here, July 1st .5.6 cents per gallon.
That makes California the highest gas taxes in the country.

And to think Gavin Newsom is the 2nd highest paid Governor in the US. It all adds up. Yep, keep voting the same way.

With all of these road repairs and lane expansions and new roads being built, keep on raising taxes. Oh wait...

Laughed my azz off at the line of cars that ran from the Costco pumps all the way around the corner onto Friars, and stopped about maybe 100' shy of Fenton Pkwy. THAT was a boatload of cars willing to waste fuel (whatever amount they wasted while their cars and trucks were idling) just to get some already expensive fuel in before the new tax goes into effect. I thought it was hilarious to see.:emoji_joy:

    Glad that I'm unemployed now.
We only fill up about once a month then it's only about 10 gallons.
Best millage for the RAV4 was 33 MPG, I can live with that.

Someone told me he is in favor of the gas tax because he wants to see the roads repaired. I do too - but that doesn't mean I want to keep paying more in taxes - I want to see the existing taxes actually be used for the repairs - not some side project or (as I recently learned) a high salary for a guy who looks like he'll sell you a used car for 3x what it is worth.

i wouldnt give a $$it , if the roads were fixed, but its always something. the thing i noticed was the hwy between el centro and yuma has been replaced twice, cement all the way. dont know if the cement set up too quick or what but they repaved it twice 60 miles. first one had cracks everywhere. and under construction for 1 1/2 years

I think there's a handful of us here that have been around the track a few times enough to realize that NONE of the tax monies this state collects EVER goes to what they say it will. To assume the state is being honest about their intentions is a foolish route to take. I don't think I've ever known a moment in time when the state azzhats could be accused of honesty.

Little brother... that's called continued guaranteed union employment. Never NEVER do things right the first time. You gotta make sure something will always need to be fixed or ripped-up to ensure your continued paycheck.

There must be sections of the 52 that are 10 foot thick concrete from leveling !

I disagree. CalTrans is doing it smart.. they use loose, unmixed black pavement to fill and even-out the massive dips. Then they roll it semi-flat by hand with a 2 pound roller instead of a 2 ton roller (see, they do it at night 'cuz they know we'll be asleep and what we dont know wont hurt us). That helps ensure they will be needed to come back to fill and roll it all again every six months.

In the meantime, the state geologists are going out of their mind with loose theories about packing with the wrong materials when it was first built, all the way to not packing it at all, blaming the old landfill gasses that are now creeping up and out, cow farts, and whatever else sounds good enough to keep the citizens held hostage for the moment. Union strong !
