I have postponed production and distribution of ScorcherZ until Maxine and Donald STFU and treat each other with civility. As an American I feel it is my patriotic duty to help mend this rift.

BTW got six bass (mostly micro sandies, one decent spotty) on the ScorcherZ at Mission Bay on the 16th. Conditions were good. Couldn't figure out a pattern...then this..

Had better luck with the ScorcherZ over on San Diego Bay on the 23rd. Got 17 spotties in 4 hours, including a thick little shoebox with fins that pulled some drag. At first look she seemed ginormous because she was a pale gray, with a white belly, and dark gray spots. In hand....14 inches even.

2 bonefish on the chartreuse ScorcherZ today. A few spotties each on some other plastics...18 fish total. From my semi vintage Caddis Nevada Gold tube.

Not hiring any pro staff at present. Nearly out of baits from the last "production run." Making tube baits is a pain in the butt...but if you see my name on a signup for the fall shorepounders..bug me then. If I've made any more lures, I'll no doubt have some ugly-*** blems to give away.

Or not. Gave one bait to Scott last weekend. He literally caught 3x as many fish with it as I caught. So the bait is effective, but I'm not..... :emoji_confused:

    bonus fish on a crankbait...

and a new species on the ScorcherZ....

    My crankbait results were abysmal,

So I switched to my tube bait artisanal.

    You can all see

    How this hali agreed

That ScorcherZ are truly da shizzinal.

Dipping. I use 3/16" steel tent pegs from walmart that cost four bits each. And 1/4" aluminum pegs from REI that cost a bit more. Grind or file the end round, and because they're tent pegs, they already have a bent hook at the top to hang from the cooling rack.
Since you're already fooling with plastic, you can buy a couple of tent pegs before the next time you pour your swimbait bodies and go to town.
https://sdfish.com/forums/t/hot-new-lure.166302/ ...scroll down for a step-by-step w a few pics. I basically dove in without asking for any advice. So I already made some mistakes for you.
The Ultra Minnow Do-It mold is the way to go, which is why you'll see those other tube bait makers use it. And me too.
I already had a Diner Shiner mold so I tried it first. The eye of the hook sits fairly close to the top of the leadhead. So those tubes are hard to tie on because the eye of the hook is buried in the plastic. An example of the Hookup bait and my first try with the Diner Shiner-based ScorcherZ is below.

Now if you just wanted to mess around before investing in another mold...I could probably be persuaded to rent my Ultra Minnow mold for a week or so. It might cost you a few underspins, though.

Cool ty for let me know I also make tubes trying to perfect my craft just wanted to see what kinda rods you might use I use something similer with a steel rod 1/4". I also make underspins swimbaits and slugs and tend to use the underspin heads just without the wire at bottom seems to work good so far.

Oh yeah...now I remember seeing your tubes on your FB page. You already got the right jig mold. If I was gonna try to sell 'em, I'd do like the smarter guys told me and buy a thermometer; you could figure out exactly what the temp needs to be to get the right wall thickness. Also, the right temp keeps the plastic very clear; the better to make the stick-on eyes POP. That catches fish as well as fishermen.....
