Moving to San Diego and would like to meet some fishing friends.

    We're moving to SD at the end of July. After chasing salmon and steelhead in Washington for years, we're excited to experience a new adventure.

    Looking to meet some new friends that we can meet up with that will help reduce the learning curve and just have some fun fishing together. I have to leave my boat in Washington, so will be shore bound.

    Also, I have some gear already, but probably not the best for San Diego style fishing, so if you guys can offer some suggestions on a few different reels, that would be great. I suppose we will be surf, pier and the occasional boat fishing.

    Very much look forward to meeting you and enjoying the adventure of San Diego and all it has to offer.

    Hmu any time.. For shore fishing the beaches and cliffs, a long (ish) steelhead rod and 2-4k size reel is perfect for the type of fishing I do. For the piers, maybe a bit heavier, for the boats, a different thing altogether. One thing of note. A hundred miles East of SD or so, there is a freshwater fishing paradise. Liberal regulations, tons of fish, no hassle, no permit fees, camp where you like within reason, cheap hotels, Good food, almost no fishermen, yeah...     Just read your article. Fantastic! There is such a variety of opportunity in the SD area. My wife (an avid fisherwomen) and I can't wait to get settled and wet a line. Thanks!

    Well, it looks like we finally found a Townhouse to rent, and we have pretty much everything packed. Now I just need to go through the gear I have and make some decisions on what to bring with me. I don't suppose I will need my salmon trolling sets...
