This is my 1st post. Yes I am a newbie. So I live really close to Lake Murray and decided to try out my new float tube this morning. I've actually only fished Murray 2x since moving to San Diego seven years ago. Don't ask me why I haven't fished it more I guess maybe cuz I was working long days. Recently I've had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to go check it out. I caught 11 fish in the Padre arm right off the points across from the marina. As with any high-pressure lake I think finesse fishing plastics Slow and Low is the key to success. I picked up a few dinks early on. A couple hours in I hooked up with a huge fish which I fought for at least 10 min. then broke me off. I never saw the fish. I cried... after regaining my composure I started back at it and pretty quickly I hooked up with another good fish fought that one, gosh , 5 minutes an was able to land it. Itwas a 22 inch , 7 lb hog nice nice thick fat fish . Of course I left my phone in the car so sorry no pics. I was fishing really, really slow. 6-inch M&M's about 15 to 20 ft deep right along the weed line. fly lining and Texas rig. I finished up around 12:30 and was catching fish all the way to my last cast. Fun time,

    Great job out there!
That 15'-20' range is right on! Lots of bass are just on the edge of the weeds or weed line and some right in the middle of it also. Sound like it was a lot of fun. Bet catching that 7lb bass was sweet! That point near Padre Bay on the way to San Carlos arm is a good spot at times. A few weeks ago I broke my line on a bass there and my buddy also busted his line in the same area on a nice bass when we hit that point again later. (All I know is there is a bass with a MM and also a long purple worm in his mouth that needs to be caught). :)
Anyway Blueshughes thanks for sharing and it is refreshing for me and others to see a nice report from Murray. (People definitely are probably pretty tired of my rambling-on reports...ha ha)
    Tight lines to you buddy

Sounds like you had a GREAT day at Murray Blueshughes . I'm heading to Murray this Saturday with a friend. If we do half as good as you, we'll be happy. Thanks for the report. Now put your phone in your tube so we can see pics next time. :emoji_slight_smile:

Get a Tube! Catch more fish, lose less tackle, and have more fun!
