...was a success! Having shore pounded the bays for years, I finally got into a kayak and I have to say I am stoked! I “borrowed” my neighbor’s 8ft Vanhunks whale runner for the weekend and went out on Friday morning. Brrrrrr that water is COLD! I launched from the ASW base at 8AM and exited around Noon. Their boat ramp is non-existent. A patch of sand. As I got my bearings (and confidences) I decide I would go into the MCRD/Liberty Station boat basin. Couple of casts under the Harbor Dr. bridge.... nothing. I let loose my spinnerbait and trolled it as I made my way further into the basin. Not a nibble. I decided I’d try casting into the incoming tide, so I found a spot away from any boat traffic in the channel. Once anchored, I casted as close as I could into the deeper part of the basin. It wasn’t long before I hooked a spotty using a chartreuse gulp minnow. I totaled 5 for the few hours i was on the water. As I exited the water, I couldn’t help but think on how much I’ve missed being on the water. I’m going back in for sure.

    Thanks for the report.
What will you do when you fall out of your kayak?

Thanks for the concern, I've been on the water most of my life and I'm familiar with entering a sailboat when it turtles. The physics of entering a kayak when it turtles is similar. I won't be walking the gunwales on a trapeze, I just have to keep my head and shoulders as close to centerline as possible at all times.

Nice, few fish you got there, Kayaking is a blast and the bay is a fantastic place to kayak.
