Went for an hour sesh right after work. Got what seems like a juvenile wsb or corvina.. I don't know the difference yet and a 23in halibut. All on the drop shot fluke.

Obviously the fish didn't care, but you don't need a weighted ewg on a drop shot rig

I know, but it was the only ewg I had. I think I'll stick with it though, since everyone throws non-weighted ones. The hali probably never saw a fluke action like mine.

typo? whatever it is he's saying the weight you see at the far right isn't necessary.... but here's someone who caught both a WSB and halibut using that rig.

Edit: WR has the correct answer.... I'm ignorant as well.

    Excellent catches - nice going.
In the WSB pic near the end of the fluke is a weird thing in the sand. At first I thought that was the 'ewg' weight but it wasn't.

Extra Wide Gap worm hook , the one that was used on these fish has lead cast onto the shank hence weighted . WR

Thanks! It's a new specie for me so I'll keep that in mind. My goal is to catch a corvina on lure.

Extra wide gap. I noticed he was using a weighted ewg hook on his drop shot rig. Usually unnecessary since the rig will already be weighed down by the bottom sinker. It was the only ewg he had so he made it work:emoji_thumbsup:
