I usually fish on the North Island base pier, as thats the only "legal" spot to fish on base but I was looking across on Google Maps and went over the Naval Amphibious base behind Silver Strand. Seems to be some shore accessible areas to perhaps cast a line. Anyone ever fished there? Thanks

Ive fished there, and Ive also been told not to fish there, only south of the parking lots toward IB is ok because of swimmers and people. They kept useing the term no fishing in "state beach"

Iv'e been out a couple of times on the Seaforth Skiffs out of Glorietta Bay. When I make the right hand turn out of Glorietta I always see some of the Navy guys fishing the piers on the north side of NAB. I'm sure you need a Military ID though.

There is a boat ramp to the far left end of the base as well as some shoreline out by the soccer field if memory serves correct.

It’s been a while since I stepped onto that base...

I believe he is talking about the little pier right behind MOBU3. If you have an ID and can get on base people fish their all the time on the weekends. Not sure if they will let you during the week. I guess it would depend on what type of training is going on.

Just read this today, so my son and I went for the first time. A few bites on the shoreline on the south side, ended up getting a 12" bay bass in low tide. Did not stay long. A lot of structure, i.e., rocks, etc., fish ambushed our lures and we were stuck a couple of times, so a little volume might be better. We started from Rio Rd and got part way down to the housing area, where the structure started to clear and there was more sand. We could not access anywhere near the soccer field, since there were helo ops in progress.

Pier 21 (MOBU3) is accessible just not sure for fishing, but did see some evidence that someone had been. The smaller piers are behind a restricted area, so not sure about that.

There is a little beach just south of the hotel Del that has a picnic area if you have a military ID. Have seen guys fishing the surf there. It has been many years we used to take our kids there. The old Miss Noris that has been long gone was a blast at reasonable prices thanks to Capt Jett and Capt Pappy. We need to submit a Bennie Sug to our congress peeps to beef up some MWR to include fishing. I see folks fishing on the ASW Sub and NASNI bases all the time while out in one of my Yaks. I've been yelled out by Navy security fishing on the north side of the bridge. I just move on and know they are just doing their job. Have fun
