My roommates have never been fishing so I originally decided to take them trout fishing, but I think Santee was getting pressured hard after the stock so last night I suggested going on the half day. My last experience was horrible with seasickness and I've since gotten those patches you put behind your ear. My gut didn't want me to go on the boat again but I also needed a test run with them. I will say that it definitely took longer for me to get seasick this time haha. Keeping myself busy and having a mint in my mouth helped too, but I think I should've put one on a day before and then morning of...as I did end up puking my brains out later.

In any case, the boat was not crowded and my roommates had a blast and limited out on vermillions. It was a pleasure watching them double up and getting them on fish. We also witnessed a little kid get a triple! He had his first red on the top hook but one big rockfish swallowed the smaller one on the second hook. His dad was so proud haha.

Anyways, posted below is what I ended up with (roommates opted to get their fish filleted so no pics, shame since one had a couple big ones). No giants, but enough fish for myself for a while. I'm not sure what the brown one is though...if someone could help identify. We ended up using one of my roommate's catch to make plenty of tacos and invited a friend over to enjoy too.

Just FYI those patches don't work if you apply them the morning of. You have to apply it at least 4 hours in advance. You're probably best off applying it the day before.
Did you all limit out on rock fish? that sounds like a good half-day of fishing.

Rad, way to get some noobies on fish!

Also, re:patches, I heard a story where a guy put two on thinking more is better and had a gnarly reaction. They last ~72 hours just put it on earlier but don't double up!

Yeah, I applied before sleeping the night before. If I do ever go again I'll put one the day before and once again morning of! And yes, all 3 of us got our limit surprisingly. We were stoked :)

Lol.. we can only fish down to 450' , bocaccio range down past 1500'.. they are listed as CE only because of the Puget sound population from what I can tell, and supposedly those numbers were padded a bit as well...

I can second the Bonine.....i've given it to several people over the years on sportboats when the people were already sick. About a half hour later they were at the rail fishing, having a good time. They don't make you sleepy like Dramamine can.

Ahhh.. just take a Bonine a few hours before you board. I’m very prone to sea sickness, and Bonine just works. Take it when you first wake up on an empty stomach while drinking your first coffee. Drink a water if you’re not a coffee guy. No drowsiness, and you won’t even think about it all day.

F4FB80E5-E8D6-4EA3-8A68-481B28D0A712.jpeg I take half a Bonine with a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich before I leave the house. Usually 2 hours before the boat leaves.. Glad you guys limited out. I went on the 4th and 12th and limited out.
