So I caught this guy yesterday in the bay in Point Loma. I looked it up and the closest I could find was a Pacific Snake Eel. Just another case of "Y received_629809527391413.jpeg ou never know what you are gonna catch!"

Looks like a Mud Moray. Rare catch. So rare as a matter of fact, you're the first person I've ever seen/heard of catching on one rod and reel. Not to say it hasn't been done. Just very, very uncommon. I didn't even know they were here. Then again, we didn't used to have broomtail grouper or bonefish either. GREAT CATCH! Keep those pics. You'll more than likely never catch another one.

Looks like a spotted snake eel to me, a huge one! Damn nice..
Edit.. wrong species.. we need better pix of this eel if you want positive identification.. grr.. that's what I get from not checking my "facts" first

    A very, very bad typo.

What did he do with the eel?

LOL. I know I'm getting old, but I though maybe the new "lingo" had passed me by, or it was some sort of inside joke. Thanks for explaining.

I stand corrected..... I think you're right about the Pacific snake eel. See the article I just found.

Too much snake for me! I probably would have shook that beast off! Cool catch though.
