Little shore pound at Sunset. 4" Z Man Diesel Minnow. Owner Bullet rig. They were in the grass. One felt huge, but alas it was being pulled from the grass. Fish on! 20170316_190949.jpg 20170316_194535.jpg 20170316_195455.jpg 20170316_201706.jpg

is it safe to shore stomp MB alone at night? i used to always fish at night in SD bay, but never alone. i would run into sketchy fools more often than not.

@Longbow Nice haul. The few I've caught have been in the grass too. I thought I had a hali but it was 3 pounds of that spaghetti like grass/kelp(?) and 1/2 pound of fish. lol :shamed:
@stnwag0n MB is sketchy at night. If I'm walking past sketchy individuals I'll pretend to be on my phone and say "Yeah, I'm right here by the... I'll be home in... I'll call you back when I'm on my way... It's OK, I don't carry cash AND I have my taser so I'll bring the darkness if i have to..." LOL :D

Out of all the times I've gone solo, in 18 years I've only had one sketchy encounter. Was solo last night too. Bring a "bait knife" with you if it makes you feel better.

I've fished MB a lot solo before I hooked up wth @geofish n @Paulito n felt ok. Just like anything else...Eyes n ears open, head on a swivel. If it looks sketchy...It is. If approached, be polite but firm, look'em in the eye, be confident. Stay in the open. My wife feels better I'm not alone, n I agree, but I wouldn't hesitate to fish alone. Plus both those guys have some training. LOL

Even though "I'm trained" I do strap on my "bait knife" that needs a good cleaning when I go solo. At the least the culprit will get a nasty infection......

I'm thinking about a new Fishing Martial Art called "Pole-Jitsu." I've recently spent many hours in the dark contemplating the "what if" scenario. I think a 6-7 foot bass pole can keep a bad guy at bay.......think about it. Use what you have. If using a pole or knife is an issue, jump in the water. I'm positive the bad guy won't follow you! You'll be wet, but alive with all your stuff.....

I feel safe. I've not been approached by anyone sketchy at Mission Bay yet. I speak for myself, others might have different opinions. By all means if you feel more at ease with a buddy at night do it. I do have a fishing buddy that feels safe when i fish with them at night. LOL Fish on friend.

Usually all the people down there are pretty cool. I've had one guy come up to us and tell us how good the bright orange fish tasted. Only once when I was alone some guy screamed at me that I didn't see under one of the bridges.
