Hit up a spot of mine in North County for a quick 30 minute sesh. I decided to throw a Daiwa Chinook spoon, Japanese version of a Crock, but way better IMHO.

Landed 3 YFC all around the same same size 15". Kept one for Fish N chips tonight. I also caught an 18" Halibut.

Nice day out, but WAY too many people out for a Thursday morning. Kinda sucks....

Pretty Hard to beat the Luhr Jenson Kroc , I do know they have gone down hill since production moved to China the dies they use are not as accurate as the USA made ones of yesteryear . Tried to look up the Daiwa looks like not marketed in the US . I assume you got them E bay or similar ? Any chance you have seen them heavier than 14 G ? The colors and sharpness of the edges look really good . This from someone that if i could use only 1 lure it would be a Kroc . Nice report . Good day on the water Thanks . WR

Here's a 17gm model. The attention too detail and the action of the spoon is very good.

Daiwa Chinooks aren't marketed here. My wife is Japanese, so I go to Japan annually and always stock up on there spoons and Hard baits while there, but I can always call Okasan too hook me up if needed ;)

The 17 G would be the equivalent to the 5/8 oz Krocs I use . They do look good . Thanks for the repose if you make an order at some point please keep me in mind , Will pay for the shipping ETC if you like . WR

Tagging onto the 5/11 North County report...I suspect I was a little further south.

FINALLY, they're back and up in the skinny water. Watched this fish run up into the crab beds 2 times while I was throwing a new flavor of LC in the halibut hole. Cut off the hyper-snap and rigged a 1/2oz c-rig w/ light wire hook. Pinned on 3 pinto bean sized crabs and got lucky, hooked up on the 3rd cast. Felt good to finally get a decent tug. Fish looked like it was full of eggs so she went back in the surf.

Not the luck I’ve had in the surf lately. Good on you. Maybe things are finally picking up.

You read my mind.. I was dialed in on his lure as well. If I could only use one lure, it would definitely be the 5/8 Kroc spoon for general purposes and it catches everything, everywhere.. I’ve been noticing lately that some of the newly bought spoons are spinning too fast on retrieve instead of that nice clean wobble.. It must have something to do with the dies, or the way they’re being cut. I’ve been having to slow my retrieve to get good action etc.
