Met up with Gabemorales and my friend for a quick AM session before work. Got to the jetty at 6AM and hiked out past the house. Lots of small calico, a kelp fish, and a blenny who ate a whole shrimp head. My friend caught a fat rock wrasse that was either pregnant or having it's period. Let it go after a picture so it could keep breeding.

Nice report. Wrasse will do that if caught from deeper water, happens all the time with sheepshead.

really? The jetty isn't all the deep though. Weight was hitting the bottom pretty quick probably 10-20 ft at most.

Could be how fast you ascended it or is possibly deeper than you think?

That dark vertical stripe is the giveaway.. as they transition from female to male, there is a form that is kind of in between..

HK_Supermarket it was cool getting out with you and your friend.
Huge bummer we weren’t really able to fish the way we intended to... But can’t complain that we caught a nice variety of species!

Gotta say though, the surf was by far the worst I’ve ever seen it there. Waves made the jetty look short in terms of height lol. Not far past the house and we were getting hit every once in a while... and we were fishing the channel side...

Lost 2 niiice fish to the kelp... the 2nd one bummed me out pretty good. Hit like a nice bass, got it close to the top, but the kelp definitely helped loosen the hook from its mouth
