Went out again with Gabemorales and another buddy of mine. got there early at 6am and walked out almost to end. Caught a big scorpion fish early on in the session just as the sun started peaking out. Lots of variety out there today.
After Gabe and my friend left to work I was tossing around channel side on the first half of the jetty. Around 11-12 it was straight up wrasse attack. Every cast they were stealing my bait... So i went with smaller size 8 hook and cut the shrimp into tiny pieces... like so small you can barely hook it and left the hook exposed. That seemed to do the trick cause I ended up pulling up probably 10 wrasse and a handful a calico until around 12:30 when it just shut off.
Used shrimp for the most part and mackerel when I ran out. Got all the bigger ones from channel side out past the house early in the morning.
Fyi don't cut mackerel infront of the gulls. They'll swarm you...

It happens... Straight up mayhem for an hour and then it quiets down for awhile.. seems tide/sun dependent...

yea it was weird cause we've always had the most productive time be right at sunrise regardless of tide. But I was surprised I got so many bites when the sun was at its peak.
