Because if you trip and twist your ankle on the rock you didn't see because you didn't bring a flash light, you will sue the pants off the city for not providing adequate lighting because you didn't think to bring a flash light at night and because the path wasn't cleared of rocks.

My guess is someplace in OC since he is from DP as his profile indicates.

Cell phone embeds GPS location in PDF data. My friend at AI told me it's SD and not in bounds. Is it poaching if you throw them back or old fashion trespassing??

Only if they didn't turn it off. PDF? or do you mean JPG? Phones will embed the GPS data in the exif part of JPG photos (if it wasn't turned off). The Chrome browser has an extension you can install that will read the exif data (and location) when you hover over photos. These photos don't have the exif data (so no GPS location info) in them, either because it was turned off in the phone/camera or when he edited the photos, the software didn't retain that data.

I had to hunt a bit for a photo to find exif data - this is what I see when I hover over it - see the GPS tag? when I click on that, it opens up google maps and shows the location. For this photo it was NW of the Coronados islands.

    Nice!

Careful. Don't take any photos and and make a lame post about it. Or ET will look at your .exif data for the U.P.S. coordinates and figure our spot out. Next thing we know the alien bucket brigade will show up in full force and the spot will be overrun. Literally an apocalypse. hah.

In all seriousness... Like I said in my original post. I am new at fishing largemouth and have been creeping for awhile and have learned a lot from this forum. I was excited to catch my first decent fish and wanted to share. Never intended to flaunt it in your faces. So if it came off that way, I apologize. However, my friends were cool enough to take me along to a spot they have been fishing successfully for awhile now. They aren't the only ones that know about/fish the place, I just don't feel it would be appropriate to give info out about it. I don't really see anything wrong with that. Happens all the time in the fishing community. My intent was never to be like, look what I got to fish suckers...they were no where near monster fish worthy of bragging about. Just the first decent and fun fish I had ever got into and wanted to share. So sorry again if it came off like I was trying to flaunt something.

Hope you all got some before this weather hits, or you find a good bite during/after.

I have no issue with it. My profession is in software/web stuff - so I tend to look at the technical side of things and wanted to point out that info is in photos and can be turned off from your phone/camera.

    Thanks.

Yeah that is pretty cool about the .exif data. Didn't even think about it...or turn it off for that matter. Not sure why it didn't show up. In my opinion if someone goes to the trouble to look at that data and figure it out they deserve it hah. The post above about finding spots from photo backgrounds is spot on. We have all gone down that rabbit hole hah.

I just took the opportunity to make a cheesy joke.

Big hint for you all... Want to keep a particular spot quiet? Wait til you are at jack in the box and TAKE A SCREEN SHOT OF YOUR PHOTO.. yep, quality is garbage, but the moocher can help himself to all the fast food parking lot trash s/he wants... Carry on..

Eh, we're bored and need a good mystery. At least you didn't claim to be a college coed who wants to learn to fish. (I haven't been here long but that one was amusing as all get-out.)

Lol!!! If I'm trying to protect a spot I throw the fish in the cooler till I get to the next spot then take the pic with strategically placed land marks in the background for everyone to see. (Sometimes I'll go back to that place the next day just to see how many people show up) LMAO

Heck I can't even figure out how to turn off notifications, I'd never figure out how to turn on or off exif, pdf, gps, 0u812 or any of that stuff... I just take a pic and share if I find the time... if someone else shows up good for them. The more the better, we will have a party! Just please leave a couple fish for later...
