I wonder why these conditions occur. My theory, a drastic swing in night-to-day temperatures create scum layer. Perhaps there is some science to back this up. Last summer, we had this on the SDR after some really cold nights. Once the the nights warmed up, no more scum layer. Maybe that's why it will only last a month or so in the IV since the nights are still cold.

Didn't see any scuppers like that when I was out last time. Work schedule may keep me away until April damnit!

Flyline bait into the scuzz, dangling off a tule, and hang on. Watch the vid and you will see exactly how to present a bait to scuppers.

Can't flyline a damn thing in 30mph winds though.

I think it may have something to do with the hay harvest combined with the first major insect hatch.. the winds of spring help too, I think, blowing hay and bugs into the canals.

Going to El Centro on Thursday and should be done at the DMV pretty early. Not sure if I can talk my roommate into stopping for a bit so I can fish but if I do are there any spots that aren't to far off I-8 I can hit up for a couple hours? What can I use for bait? I'm fresh out of fresh fish but I have frozen fresh whole shrimps and some Mack chunks. I also have quite the assortment of plastics.

I'll try to PM you a path to take. Got a vehicle for the dirt roads?

Than damn IID canal flows site has not updated since Jan 30 so no idea what conditions may be like but I have an area that will be full of water. Flow just affects the current there but others are high and dry.

Supposedly, the last two storms missed the IV completely. Warmer temps starting today, I would think flows will be up...
