Had to double dip today to get the fix. Fished this morning on sandy beaches on the outgoing tide from 7-10, bite was tough. The trough I had been fishing in previous weeks was filled in, took awhile to find one with biters in it. Threw the LC110 for 2 hours looking for halibut or big perch, then went to the worm to avoid a skunk. Struggled to eventually land 3 barred surf perch, all dinky.
This evening, fished a rocky beach for a couple hours around sunset with shrimp on a c-rig. Not much action there either but did manage to catch a nice opaleye at about 16" and 2.85lbs on the scale. When I hooked it I knew it wasnt a bass hit had some weight, got me excited lol. Ended up taking a bath to land it, good times. Conditions were pretty good morning and evening on both beaches. Salad heavier at sunset, waves heavier at sunrise. Tight lines

At the sand bass spot...hooked the opaleye pretty quick, thought some other some other quality fish may be lurking. Feels like it's about to turn on

That thing is approaching submarine class! Nice fish. IMO better than a legal bass.

Agreed. I've caught many a legal bass on this beach, some tank sandies. Caught a sargo around the same size a couple years ago. Certainly a more rare catch for me, and the biggest opaleye I've caught myself. It buried in the rocks after taking the bait, thought I was snagged at first. Pulled it loose and felt the weight and wasn't fighting like a bass, I knew it was going to be something nice.
