    From DeMaio today:

There is a key vote next week and we need to light up the phones and fill email inboxes demanding that our lakes remain open – contact these councilmembers TODAY.

Subject: Action Needed - Contact City Hall
    Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2020

    michael-

While California slowly begins to open, some politicians are still imposing unnecessary restrictions - specifically on the use of our lakes, beaches, and trails.

Next week there will be a key vote on whether lakes will be able to open and stay open!

Can you contact these four city councilmembers TODAY and demand that they need to keep our lakes open for the upcoming budget proposal?

    Councilmember Jennifer Campbell
    Phone: 619-236-6622
    Email: jennifercampbell@sandiego.gov

    Councilmember Monica Montgomery
    Phone: 619-236-6644
    Email: monicamontgomery@sandiego.gov

    Councilmember Vivian Moreno
    Phone: 619-236-6688
    Email: vivianmoreno@sandiego.gov

    Council President Georgette Gomez
    Phone: 619-236-6699
    Email: georgettegomez@sandiego.gov

Let them know that the proposed budget is flawed and that city lakes generate revenues in excess of the cost of maintaining the lakes.

Thank you for your help and support in our campaign to reopen our lakes, beaches, and trails.

    Best,

    Carl DeMaio
    Chairman, Reform California

PS: Once you're done contacting our targeted city councilmembers please share our petition to reopen the lakes, beaches, and trails with your friends – here's the petition

Nice, I see that the council women on the list are the ones that don't give a ratz azz about fisherman, only their social warrior agendas! The council President Georgette Gomez has no concept of you wanting to fish or enjoy recreation! Good freakin luck ...we need to hammer them with emails!

Everyone sign the petition if you want to fish! Carl Demaio has some political clout in Sad Diego! Remember, the City had already taken away one day each month from each lake before this Covid thing started! Get involved or enjoy your ride down the slippery slope! Thank you Otay Michael for the post!

We need 5 votes of the council to bring a motion to the Mayor. We need those 4 council people written to. We only have at this time 3 solid votes. Do not feel that others will write in and you dont have to. Write in!
Our personal feelings about the council persons on the list mean nothing. We need to send a professional note to each one of them. And repeat that every other day until the 15th of June. On the 15th of June is when the final decisions will be made on the budget. we need everyones help.

All my emails got bounced by the city server. Yahoo automated response says only their admin can fix it. I'll try again.
    Anybody else get bounced back?

California..land of the freebie! If Todd Gloria becomes the next Mayor, and you combine him with our current city council..you're the next San Francisco! Vote Barbara Bry for Mayor, lesser of two evils! You think we blow hundreds of millions on the homeless now, just wait! We will rival L.A. and San Fran..who spent a billion! What do you think the non-profits did with that money..sure didn't use it for the homeless problem! Look for a big tax increase in your future...and less money for your lakes and parks! Suggestion for your next job: Start a homeless non-profit, the State and City will funnel endless amounts of money to you! Email your politicians, your only hope....or fish in your bathtub!

I thought that the vote today was only about the sport fishing fleet? Not trying to say that we don't need fishing open on all bodies of water, but I thought the motion was specifically for the sport fleet.

The motivation is for all in our boating community.

    The oceans are open.
    The bays are open.
And the many sport boats have been allowed to take passenger.

    The lakes are still closed.

This is not about Covid for lake closures.

Its about a city using the lakes as pawns in their budget issues. Our lakes issues truly started 3-4 years ago. Its been a slow burn by the city and public water utilities to systematically begin the process of closing them. Last July-2019 they closed each lake an extra a day a month. Then Covid hit and it was their easy button. And now they add guidelines to the county that make it extremely tough to Impossible to be able to re-open. So, yes its about everyone in our boating and fishing community. From Wake boarders to Jet Skis to fishing. There may end up being no lakes to use come June-15. June 15th is the final budget meeting. The sport fleets have no worries about the City’s budget. Their worry is Covid and being allowed to take passengers.
The lakes are owned by the City. And they are using them as pawns at this time.

Looks like the Sport fleets got pushed aside by 1 vote in the council today. They truly thought they were going to be allowed to go.

Nathan Fletcher sealed their fate. Votes came down 4-1 on having them go fishing. It had to be 5-0

this is why its so important that everyone write in for the lakes. If we cant get 5 votes the motion does not move forward, its that simple.

write to the Mayor as well. Do whatever you can. We have no time to waste.

we don't seem to have that person in our world at this time. And until they dont re-open them we are kind of at a stand still. And by the letter of the law, they are allowing recreation in San Diego at our lakes. With 3 lakes open they have not “closed the program” even though, yes they have closed the program to our eyes.
Its a horrible back stabbing of citizens by the City and County if they dont open them.
