Kind a far pic but I sighted the large orange koi that roams the river (middle). Actually got near the breaded hook and once it felt the line it shot off. Real skittish fish, which is probably why it is so big. Also saw a few other smaller ones and some other large common carp in the same spot. Unfortunate that it is hard to get at or even fish from the shore.

I haven't seen any koi yet. Maybe in the wrong sections.

Beautiful, some folks consider catching them bad luck, never seen a change in my luck after I caught one that I know of tho

It was real nice when it got closer and looked pure orange without any markings. I have seen it in the same place a number of times, but the white one we saw last year has not been seen.

Off shore too hard and no room for a fly unless you are willing to stand in the water in front of the big silver tubes. Tubes? Kind of a tight spot and they would flee.

There is a path on the left side of the tubes , that goes for about 20 feet. At the end look across the water in the small cove and they are usually there.

That isn't a koi, its a goldfish someone either let go or brought to the river to use for bait.

Caught a bunch of them over the ages out of the river. If you catch him look at his mouth there will be no whiskers. Kois have them kinda like a catfish but smaller.

Good way how to catch them and other carp it put some fish food into a nylonstocking, make a small ball and tie off. Hardest part of making these is you need to put the hook in it prior.

Not sure if that is legal in cali or not but we used it on the mighty Mississippi river slackwaters for massive carp.

A well placed arrow would take him out as well.

We had koi and large gold fish in our backyard pond and saw them everyday for years.

If you catch that majestic fish you will either have terrible luck the rest of your life, or develop magical powers and probably live like a King. One or the other, your choice whether to risk it.
