after last weeks killing by pwy-capt with the jerkbait, I was ready. :)
started on the bank as usual. got some blow ups, but no commitment. kept at that for an hour for nada. SO, turned around and threw the jkbt out into the middle of the cove and on the second cast, nailed one. couple casts later, another. now I'm excited. I have the pattern. HA! caught 2 more MUCH latter, and zip after that.
    the wind(as usual) sent me home. otay 10-17-2018--btd 3-jkbt-wtr69 005.JPG otay 10-17-2018--btd 3-jkbt-wtr69 010.JPG otay 10-17-2018--btd 3-jkbt-wtr69 022.JPG

Fishing is funny (meaning more like 'strange') at times. I figured out the JB was the ticket at the Delta last week too, but took me two days of struggling to find it, as I force fed them top most the day on day one. (Although lipless worked well on day two with 15). However, about the second hour in of lipless and top I tied on a JB and proceeded to get 5 in first 5 casts. :emoji_astonished:

So I worked that area for another 30 or so fish and decided to go back and start on the same looking area back 500 yards to where I'd first started. Nada for 400 yards, until I got back towards where I first got into them, getting into them again. Ended with 60, 58 more than day 1! :emoji_blush:

So was it the spot or the bait??? Hard to tell sometimes!

    Way to try something different.
As we all know, I love me some jerkbaits.

how you keep that popping and jerking going all day in some kind of rhythm, is beyond me. :)
I was doing it in my sleep!

I can say the same about sloooowly crawling a worm. I don't have the patience for that anymore.

One thing I found is a really good rod with some major whip like tip action saves your wrists and arms.

I have a 6'9" custom rod that I use that makes fishing a jerkbait easier to do for extended periods of time.

Another trick is, use the rod tip and not your wrist and arm. Lock the rod to your arm, hold your wrist inline with the rod, and move your rod as a whole. The tip with the slacked line will give the bait good action.

Ya... I use a ML Omen 1 rod with xtra fast action for the small lures I throw at Otay. Saves me a little fatigue compared to the Medium rod for bigger lures.
