Well... Lets see.. 51 fishing Kayaks and easy 10 more pleasure kayaks
    40 private boats.
Every rental it seems was out as well.

to say lake was crowded would be an understatement. Fishing was tough for me until the afternoon. Not getting their early definitely changes what the morning will bring you. Starting at 8:00 many had 3 plus hours pounding the shore. I only had 5 bass by 2:00pm. And it was a hard fought 5. And nothing to right home about size wise. Still something flipped at 2:00 and the bite picked up. The size did as well. A few baits started working and it made for an enjoyable afternoon. Off the water by 6:30 landed 20 total for the day. Lots of fun top water action. Not breakers. Blind cast stuff. Really fun. Lake is coming around. Water was 82 in the afternoon. Lots of bait starting to show up outside the tulles. Breakers should get going soon. There are here and there right now. Soon though it should go off.

Last fish is really dark! I wonder what switch flips at 2:00 on a hot day? I'm always home by then!

I believe its sun angle. I firmly believe that is a huge thing in bass fishing. And I have learned how to fish through the entire day. Being out there all day there are other subtle things to key on. Its no different than the changes within a morning bite. Its just that its tough to be on the water 12-14 hours. You need to learn how to deal with the issues of heat, wind and water. I found I had to work up to it. A hundred degrees beating on you can take its toll.

As for the bass. They call it Melonosis. Its when the fish has trouble in its DNA for color pigment. I have landed actual Black fish, true black fish at Otay. Not kind of black like this one, Shiny thick jet black. This fish even had a black tongue. Crazy.

I would think the wind coming up could get them on the feed. I know it does at San V and Cap.

Thanks for the great Otay report! we were there on Saturday and the morning was just as you described it 50 kayaks all waiting for the start horn to blow.We left at noon with six fish in the boat. But the bite had been off for at least two hrs at that point and it was hot!

Nice report Rob. Glad they started playing and biting better after 2 o'clock. The way you described the crowd of people there gave me chills even though it was maybe not that bad, but it was pretty dang crowded at times at Murray when the other lakes were not open. Anyway....while dealing with the crowded conditions and the heat....it's great to see you had fun today with some topwater action. :)

The top water was crazy. I took a chance in an area and landed 3 on 5 casts. Then got even closer to the trash with a fluke and got 5 more super fast. Then went to another area similar to the first and got 3 more on the hard bait. The timing was perfect for those baits. Went back to the first spot to try it again, nope, nothing. Timing was the key. I’ll take that all day and twice on Sunday

    Sounds so dang FUN!!! :)
Today just a fun trip to the BPS and the fun ended when I experienced lots of empty shelves as if parts of the store was looted before I arrived(maybe everyone is becoming a bass fisherman and that is why the big crowds are out there)...ha ha

No, they are not. Everything in Manufacturing is struggling. There were mo supplies being delivered. There were no factories working. They sold every item they had in inventory and are no struggling to even have inventory in their own shelves. Its sold as soon as it comes off the line. Fishing and music Equipment went through the roof on sales during the shut down. And now we are sitting with empty shelves. Our company has 70K back orders. 70k!! Its a real thing.
