Otay/San V

    been fishing Otay the past 2 month. Its been lights out. Totally amazing. Trev and I have been on a terror out there. Best day was 50 bass. Might as well be at Barrett. Feels like it at times. On average we are getting 30 bass. Not 20 rats and a few good ones. No rats, all good fish. Trev went back to school yesterday so I headed to V today. Frog bite was stupid fun. Senko bite as well. With the water at 79-80 degrees if you are soaking worms.... you are wasting valuable fishing time. Just one guys opinion.
    Otay has been frogs, flukes and Clone Fry. Breakers, solo fish and groups of breakers. Been so fun.

    Dog gone it!!! We were there same day and all we could fool was 3 -2 lbers for Hayden and I wore the stripe all the way home. Very painful, and then I have to read this from LB. I may have to find a different sport. Some of you guys just flat kick *** on the bass!! Great job and congrats to you and your son.

    Its been a serious fun time. I even took another buddy out a week back as he wanted to see what it was all about.... He only landed 1 fish. I landed 15. With trev there we would have hit 25-30 easy. Its more work than many may realize trying to get the fish to bite. Its about the right casts, baits, its about timing, its about boat position. Its about your gear, lures, line.. Its about sun angle and shadows and so much more... It take a lot of preparation to make it happen.

    Lol. You are so right!! We come beat! And the wife laughs at me when I tell her the same thing!! If you don't fish you just assume it's a 18 pack of C Ls and some peaceful naps while the waves gently rock you. My brain is fried when I get done fishing and it hurts for a week later when there's a stripe! Add to that we watched what would have easily been a PB for me get all tangled up in the grass only to have a quaga cut me off before I could get her out!! That plays over and over in my mind, and probably will until I land a new PB.

    Yet thats why we go back. Its not about the fish landed, its about the fish lost. Here is another little helpful hint. Most would think this is nuts..... Dont drink and fish. You do way better out there if you dont. Then come home and drink like a fish. I stopped drinking while fishing about 18 years ago. My catch levels increased for sure.

    Great job out there Rob!
    We all live for those days where we can locate a bunch of bass all schooled up. Of course having the knowledge to use the right baits and the right techniques is what’s most important. It takes years of fishing to gain that knowledge and you and Trevor use that experience to put the hurt on those bass.

    Haha right again!! at 66 yrs old I learned that a long time ago. I need as much concentration power as I can get. A light bite can hard to notice if you're asleep at the wheel!! Lol
