Hit up one of my local ponds with a friend at 5:00 looking for a late afternoon topwater bite. I went skunked until about 7:25 in the back cove of this pond. I was doing the walk the dog with my lure and stopped it for about 5 seconds to show my friend something, then BOOM… out of no where about 15 feet from the bank a giant bass shoots out of the water completely to eat my lure, she somehow didn’t get the hooks. I make 2 more casts back at the same spot and nothing. And this is what I said to my friend after those 2 casts “so back to what I was saying” (then I paused my bait for a few second then twitched it) slurp… I set the hooks into a big bass that pulled drag. We get the fish up and are freaking out in excitement. But… we didn’t have a scale sadly. But we did get measurements. 23 inches and 13.6 girth. 100% bigger then my old PB of 6.39. So, I need some help. If any of you have caught a 23 inch bass and weighed it, it would be awesome if you could tell me the weight of that fish so I have an idea of the weight of my PB bass!

That's an 8 pounder! That is my estimation, but I am often wrong. There are calculation charts online.

Edit: Are you sure about the girth? Looks fatter than that!

    I'd go with the 7! ;)

The fish in my avatar pic was a pond fish. It weighed 5-13.

BTW, you should bring your friend fishing more often. Seems you would not have caught that fish were he not there.

6.5 - 6.9..needs a bigger belly to be 7.0+..beautiful, healthy, fish though! Great topwater fish! I'd call it a 7 when you tell fish stories in the future!!
