Has anybody fished the Los Penasquitos creek? I have fished it only once, back when my freshwater knowledge was slim to none. I hope to fish it in the morning before this rain rolls in, and just t-rig some craws and senkos and possibly fish jigs. Anything i should know about or try differently? Thanks!

Go up the hill on mercy road till you pass canyonside ranch, park and cross the street. Theres an entrance from the road down to the trail, and the sign is at the bottom.

I have seen bass in the pools around the falls area, easy to see the pools in Google maps. Not big fish. Probably not hard to catch with 3-4" finesse worm on a dropshot.

Fishing within the preserve is prohibited. Doesn’t have to be posted - and signs can dissappear anyway. However it is covered in the park rules under the section on disturbing plants, animals, etc. Fishing is a form of disturbing.

If you think you want to fish there you have to make your own risk vs reward assessment. You never know how a citation today might show up on a background investigation later and affect something you might want to do.

I will echo Craig it all depends on how your background investigator feels. I know first hand I got a ticket catching lizards in Anza Borrego state park washed out of backgrounds LA county fire, San Diego city cause of it, Forest service, Fed fire San Diego , Cal Fire, National city, Chula vista and LA city didn't mind ended up working for Forest service, Fed fire, Cal fire and LA city for 30 years 39 total in fire service. if its close that ding may cost you the job. to many good legal areas to take the chance. advice from an old guy take it for what its worth

I know I am biased but I thought it was best job in the world.after 39 years I still loved it and it took a broken neck to end my career though I was close to retiring.good luck take every test you can to practice your interview skills,go to mock interviews.put in the time and work hard.get at least your EMT,paramedic is better
