I found out El Capitan is only renting boats on weekends so I couldn't make my trek out there so I decided to hit up Lake Perris with a new fishing buddy since I haven't been since last year. Heard the bite was ok and the water is still rising and so wanted to see how it was.

Got to the marina at 6am and rented a boat. Was told behind the island was doing well and the east end. Noticed there was a current algae bloom as well.

Made our way to the back of the island and started flipping jigs. No more than 15mins later I got a bite while being distracted for a min and landed a little chunk.

My friend hooked one too off a jig but the bass threw the hook. My friend didn't set the hook hard enough when he got the bite. Got a few more nibbles but didn't get bit. Saw a lot of carp jumping everywhere And maybe some schooling bass jumping too.

We tried flipping jigs and didn't get bit so we kept moving to the east end. Nothing worked for awhile but I was just primarily flipping jigs and throwing my swaver 200. I did get one follower on my swaver tho, maybe a 3lber or so.

The wind picked up around 1pmish and we tried to find a wind blown cove. Found an area and I decided to flip a Texas rig beaver. Got rewarded with this chunk.

After that my buddy got a bite off a senko but missed em on the hookset. Wind got too crazy so we left around 4pm.

Not a great day but got two decent chunks flipping!

    Nice detailed report buddy.
Tell your friend it won't hurt the fish if he puts a little back into the hook set. lol
Good to see you on the water

Good job getting them on the jigs TheBassinPanda ! I've never fished at Perris. Looks like you guys were having a fun time regardless of the wind. Thanks for the report and pics!

I knew that was coming. I grew up a Raider fan and once Rivers is gone I'll be sporting the black and silver again

Fun times for sure before the wind got rough. Perris is a bit smaller when compared to San V but has some nice submerged trees that could be potentially great for froggin in the summer!

FMJ has been an amazing rod. Extremely sensitive and strong. Transfers power very well. I want another lol just to have haha.
