I have been going to the piers for a couple of years now. My usual spots at ob is closed cause the pier is damaged. Most folks are getting shorts there. Tried ib pier a number of days and got 1 keeper, crabs, and -1/8" shorts. 1st time I saw the game warden at ib. Nice to see them out checking. Nothing at shelter island. I noticed come high tide ... nothing.

Sounds like boaters and divers are getting limits. Hmmm....

Fishing for bait seems slow too.

Now the oil slick is heading this way.

    Oh well that's fishing....

Look for incoming tides, peaking an hour after sunset. Low light moon phases too. Fresh bait, if you can.stick with it, enjoy the evenings!

After a couple of weeks, I thought I would give it a go at IB again to see if there were any hits.

No lobsters in any nets and packed it up before high tide.

But at sunset I saw the Bonito were getting caught and a few macs were around on sabikis.

As boats in the bay were still reporting limits, I thought I would try IB pier another time before the season ends. I thought I would be the only one out but there were a couple of others out too. After a few pulls with nothing in the net I packed it up after high tide. A kid came up to me and theorized that the heavy rock band at the end of the pier was vibrating and affecting the bite. Maybe so. Macs were biting at sunset!

Hoses were added to the sinks so I gave the nets a good cleanup till fall.
