I have a secret pond that I go to and i went there with a friend and he caught 2 carp with bread. But since it falls off the hooks so easily, I want to know what is the best easy to make carp bait for plain hooks. I don’t have a method lead. What easy to make carp baits works good in ponds?

Use a hair rig and wad the bread up. Lose the crust.

Corn is a sure fire bait.

Yep.. Pack the bread tight into a ball and use a hair rig. Shrimp, corn and boilies all work too.

Look it up, easy enough to tie, you don't need anything complicated, use a piece of grass as your stop

Bear in mind the wadded bread will sink. If carp are surface feeding use a bobber.

Mix in some melted strawberry jello powder and the bread will stay on better.

Ever make jello from powder before? Add hot water and stir. Plenty of YouTube videos. Carp love sweet things.

    Homemade Carp Bait Recipes
    Peanut Butter Ball
    • 1/2 cup of grits
    • 1 cup of peanut butter
    • 1/4 cup of flour
    • 2 slices of white bread
Simply mash it all together and form a tight ball around your hook. This works wonders for me.

    Breakfast Cereal
    • 1 cup of Wheaties – or really any other cereal will work just as well
    • 1 cup of flour
    • stir in a little honey and a 1/4 cup sugar
    • mix in a little hot water until you get the desired consistency
    Koolaid Mixture
    • 1 cup of corn puffs
    • 1 cup of flour
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 package of Koolaid – any color works but I like red the best
Mix the ingredients and slowly add in hot water. Once you get a thick dough-like texture, stop adding water and work the paste. Remember you want it to be firm.\

    Kool-Aid Quick Grits
    • 2 Cups Quick Grits
    • 1 Cup Instant Grits
    • ½ Envelope of Kool-Aid
    • Warm water
Mix the grits and Kool-Aid until the Kool-Aid is thoroughly mixed with the grits. Then, as you knead the mixture, add water slowly. Repeat this process until you have a playdough like consistency.

    Cornbread Carp Bait
    • 1 Box Jiffy Sweet Cornbread Mix
    • 1 Can of Cream Corn
    • 2 Slices of Bread
With your hands mix all the ingredients together. For a few minutes, let the mixture sit mixture so the moisture from the cream corn can be absorbed by the cornbread mix.

    Jello Bread Carp Bait
    • 1 Package Strawberry Jello
    • 4 Slices of Bread
    • ½ Cup of Flour
    • Warm Water
Add Jello mix to a ¼ cup of warm water. Mix the flour and broken up bread together. Slowly, mix in your jello water, stirring as you go. You’re looking for a playdough-like consistency, add more warm water to your mix until you reach that.

There are hundreds of different carp recipes out there but these ones tend to work the best for me. Some experienced anglers will add salt to the mixture as well as this is supposed to help attract carp. You can vary the ingredients, some will work better than others depending on your location. I usually avoid any meat containing mixtures as I don’t think that they are necessary. Other ingredients you can mix into the above recipes are oats, nuts, bird seeds, bagels, cheese, cottage cheese, corn, and cornmeal. Experiment a little and see what works best.

Make a batch of boilies or cook up some feed corn and tie with a hair rig, easy as pie.. Liquidise some bread (blender) and mold it into a ball around the hook, just tight enough to lob it.. the idea is that it will break down and attract the carp...

How would using vegetable oil instead of water in the mix work?.. It may hold together better, make it float up a little, and give off some of the oil as an attractant...I never tried this... Just an epiphany... Or a dumb $hit idea.:emoji_thinking:...

The Brits use "Pop ups" to make their boilies float.
Europeans are crazier about carp fishing than US bass anglers.
