Hit up lake poway for some trout. They're all over the rainbow powerbait. Not sure what it is but that was the only color getting bites. If you're throwing jig/power worms stay close to shore and move around until you find the school. All the feeding trout seem to be cruising around 3 ft of water. It was already busy today... can't imagine what the weekend will look like... haha

Planning to go tomorrow morning... Thanks for the report
Edit: brother and I got skunked, saw some really good sized trout but they were uninterested. Tried powerbait, mini jigs, and rooster tails. It was a struggle out there today, I didn’t see many trout being caught as well

Not sure what it is but the trout don't seem to like that beach at poway. It's a great catfish spot but trout tend to stay away.

I've been fishing Poway for a long time and I have never seen anyone catch trout off that beach. Too deep and lots of bass to feed on them.

yea, it's a great spot for bass and cats. I've seen some fat bass just sitting there hanging around right where it drops off

I think its just too steep for them at boulder bay. The stocked trout will swim along that shore line but do not hang around like you see in half moon bay. From the top hiking trail and some good light, you can just see schools of trout just hanging around in half moon bay which is why there can be so many rods there and people are still catching.

You have time this week to go HK? I am thinking of going a few times this week. Thursday at Cuyamaca and Friday at Poway. But you do need a state license at cuyamaca. Let me know if you wanna get together.

Say I just came back from Cuyamaca I didn't catch anything but about 0800 a truck pulled up to the ramp and dumped a ton of lighting trout so it should be good Thur. The guy made me leave that area there were trout right in front of me jumping out of the water big ones. haha

I've caught plenty of trout off the beach over the years. PB, worms, rooster tails, kastmasters etc...not many people fish there but it's worth it when other spots aren't producing, and typically it's less crowded.

Trout are uppity elitist! They do not hang with warm-water deplorables. Bass, on the other hand, welcome Trout with open mouths!
