Soaked for spotfin all day. Didn't have very good bait this time but all things considered it wasnt too bad. Lost one spotfin that looked about 20" right at the weedline, hook was probably barely stuck in one of its crushers for it to come off like that. Once the sun came down I loaded the pier cart and headed to the spot to see if couldn't get something to smash the spook. I pulled up and right away I could see bait being boiled on. Had blowups and swirls on almost every cast for about 20 minutes as the tide was peaking. Nailed one around 18" or so.

nice fish! i've been seeing what I think are decent size corbina jumping in the OB rivermouth around all the baitfish during rising tide. Threw an LC at it a couple times with no luck.

Love the spotfin, and I wish we had a real corvina presence up here in NOC and SLA counties... WTG on getting some nice fish.... BUT you can keep all of the eel grass trailers :emoji_wink:...

Actually, there’s like an entire colony of micro sand bass by Crown Pt. However you we’re definitely almost as far back as you can go lol. Looks like you were by point number one. Just a hunch.

Did you do that dragon scale on your rod? Looks like some older glass. Nice viña.

Nope, bought as is. Its a 8ft kencor unknown model. There's an older mexican dude that is usually at the second row of kobeys swap meet every weekend, always has quality vintage gear at reasonable prices and he knows his ****... My rod building skills aren't that advanced yet, currently doing a couple seeker 270's for werf. Might try doing it on one but probably end up going with a fade since its a little easier to not mess up.

I've seen that guy. Is he the one with buckets of penn reels and parts? How is the the action on the rod? Also I didn't know coach needed even more rods :).

Probably him.. Its pretty parabolic being an all glass rod but it still has very good backbone. Perfect rod for launching big glidebaits.
