Thought you might be interested in an article that ran in the San Bernardino newspaper this week. Here is a partial quote and a link.

"There have been a number of rumors, blog posts and discussions on fishing forums about Diamond Valley Lake having quagga mussels, but Mike Giusti, a biologist with the Department of Fish and Game, says monthly monitoring by the lead water agency (Metropolitan Water District) has never turned up one of the invasive species." Very interesting, especially in the light of what the Ranger at Skinner told me just three weeks ago. He said that DVL now gets their water from the same source as Skinner; the Colorado River.

    Somebody is misinformed!

I still can't think of a reason that MWD would be intentionally misleading on this issue, but I think I would be more inclined to accept it without question if Mike Giusti had said that he had been monitoring and had found none.

OK, for I hope the last time there has not been ANY CRA water into DVL since BEFORE there were quaggas found in Lake Mead. There have been no confirmed quagga in DVL to date. The first striper was caught in 2001 before the lake opened. I found the first flathead in DVL in 2006. Quagga were found in Mead in January 2007. The water currently filling DVL is from the State Water Project which has no quagga. Anyone who says otherwise is blowing smoke up you know where.
