Fishin at the river is still slow. I fished four days in a row starting on the 16th. I caught 2 fish. One 5-6" striper and a small largemouth. I fished from 7am till 10-11 am on all but one day. I didn't get on the water in the dark on any of the days. The one day I caught fish, it was almost 2 pm when I finally landed a unsuspecting bass on a tiny pink fly in a small channel to a lake. It was tough fishin once again. A broken record it seems. I even did a lil carp fishin. I really enjoyed that but I found that using my heavy sage bass line made it hard to make a soft presentation. There were some huge fish and they were feeding. Some of them were feeding pretty deep all good learning stuff. I will be back to chase them again.

The reason I only fished four days out of nine was once again I had to get the jeep worked on and we had wind and rain. The coolant leak that was supposed to be fixed last trip but it was leaking again. Turns out the water pump was bad just like I told them last time but that's a whole nother story. Then I chose to hang out with the wife and friends instead of pounding the water which turns out, I didn't miss much.
Water temperature on the first day was 56* not bad and on the forth day I was seeing 58* I did not see a single fish till the third day I fished and that's when I caught mine. I saw a couple fish and threw on him on my way home. The next day I tried to fish those same areas and saw a few fish but couldn't get them to bite.

Yesterday they had a tournament and from the guys I talked to, only one guy was catching any fish. He was drop shotting in the marina and had three boats surrounding him within 10-20'. He was pulling in small bass but nobody else was doing anything. Pretty sad to watch guy's fishin so close together. Yesterday the water temp. was 60* so I will probably be going back out next weekend.

My wife and I decided to sell Ellie Mae our beloved jeep for 18 years. She's not getting enough use and she is being a pain in my butt. I don't want to spend my fishin time traveling back and forth to Yuma getting her worked on. My wife has also been wanting something to get out in what they call the outback. The hills around Hidden Shore's. Our little golf cart is working hard driving all those dirt roads and our jeep doesn't work well with the dogs so we decided to get something a little more suitable. One bonus is that I negotiated a new kayak out of the deal so everybody is happy.

I will be going back out for a few days this week unless I can get some overtime at work. It's getting closer I can feel it. I don't think I have ever worked so hard to catch fish. I love the new fish finders. I need to spend some time with them things as well. Good luck to all of you in your next fishin adventure.

I was planning on getting back out there Fri. thru Mon. but looks like I may have a opportunity to make some big bucks on O.T. this week and weekend. Tough decision but I will take the money if offered and take next week off instead. should be better fishin anyway, I hope.

Yep the Mop fly. Neat little fly. I think I will treat them like a Wooly bugger and tie hundreds of them in all kinds of different styles. Looks like the one operator with more seniority than me may pick up the weekend O T so I think I will head out Wed. or Thrus. night and stay thru mon. or tues.

Johnathan Are you still just tying with mono? Have you run into a problems while tying with mono. I have been tying with mostly mono and the only problem is a half hitch doesn't hold I have to glue it.

For flies, I uses uni-thread or utc denier. Never tied with clear mono before but in like the idea. I just always forget to get some at Strouds... Need to make a list every time I go.

For tippet/leader, I just use fluorocarbon conventional line. Seaguar, very thin diameter.

I've heard of people exclusively using mono which is why I'm interested. I think I saw it from FlyFishFood's baby fat minnow, so maybe its Ryan cuz he's tied those for me.

I will be out there from 16th. for at least 6 days. I would be down for some carp fishin Arizona lic. if I remember correctly is about the same a cal. but good for one calendar year. Some of those canals are Indian and that lic. was $85.00 a few months ago and its good for a calendar year as well. Love tying with mono and I just glue the knot as well. Thanks for the reply Ryan, see you out there.

This is all I’ve caught so far. Seriously
Seeing more fish now. They seem to be pairing up. Very nervous fish. Water temperature between 62 and 68* depending on where you go. May be more of an afternoon bite but the sun is hot and after 3-6 hrs on the water I never make it.
    Keep trying:)

flyfishinsteve64 .. bite is slow in the IV, but tolerable. Carp are up and feeding hard if you can find a pod.
