Got to Ponto around 11:00, was fishing the outgoing tide. Found some good sized sand crabs, a lot deeper than normal. Upon first glance everything looked prime for fishing. Got my line in the water and immediately pulled in a small bush of salad. Was almost unfishable.

Was able to hook up on some good sized corbina despite the crazy amount of stuff in the water. My personal best at roughly 17”. I love the way the bigger ones peel drag running away from shore. Lots of tiny perch as well. Good luck to those out there this weekend.

Nice catch and I appreciate the report!! I'm going to try and sneak out tomorrow for high tide. Hope tonight's big tide swing doesn't make the salad situation worse:emoji_fingers_crossed:.

Thanks!! Can’t wait for the report.

Interesting I did get a license check by state parks out there. Curious if you’ve ever had any experience with them on that beach?

No, never on the sand. The local DFG guy (Noel) has checked me when I was fishing on the other side of the 101. He is back in the area quite often getting anglers for trespassing.

Curious, when they check your license are they also checking ID? I often leave my ID in the car and have thought about it recently. Don’t want to get busted for not having it.

The couple times I've been checked the DFG officer has never asked for an ID. Like you, I typically leave my ID locked up in the car.

I have a couple zippered pockets on my shorts, I carry my ID and one credit card. I learned that lesson from one time I went fishing and left my wallet at home and only took my ID because I had heard about car break ins at Ponto. After I was done fishing I was starving for a burrito but remembered I didn't have any cash or credit on me. Had to go back home hungry. So now always my ID and CC on me. Phone and keys go into dry bag on my belt. Fishing license in my backpack with the tackle.

I was checked for both fishing license and ID.

Noel Richards is a good guy I have had several good contacts with him at Cardiff , Very informative and a willing source of information . He has asked for license but not ID . He does really keep an eye on the east side of 101 , has a large area for just one officer . WR
