Fished my first offshore trip today, and caught my first yellowfin tuna. It was a slow day, no bites for anyone on the boat until 3pm, despite finding 3 or 4 schools that just wouldn't bite. Last stop the fish immediately reacted to the chum. I think 11 YFT and 2 BFT was the final count, when i got mine 4 other fish were hanging at the same time. I think I did pretty well today for a first timer as far as selecting baits and keeping in contact and moving around the boat. My fish was caught on 20# mono and size 2 mustad live bait hook. 1 guy got one on a coltsniper, the rest were live bait. Overall had a blast and learned a lot and happy with myself for bringing home a tuna and not being a kook lol. The crew was great, captain ryan kept us out a few hours longer than projected to ensure we got on some fish. Not too many tangles, i never had to cut line or anything and for the most part anglers worked together decently. 20190917_195525.jpg

Good job man, all I caught was a buzz my first trip. Save your pennies, its just a bit more expensive than trout fishing

One of the things I think is so fun about the IV... Just a hook, bait, line and the fish... Watching your line, sneaking up on the fish... I don't go on the boats any more, but hey...
