Long time reader 1st post. Fished the mouth of the bay yesterday from 9-1 with small sardines and the Halibut action was awesome, caught 12 between 16 and 21 inches plus a 33 inch and 25 inch Halibut. Would have stayed longer the fish were still biting but the wind made too hard to keep the bait down while drifting

Very well done. In the future you might want to consider getting a drift anchor. Its pretty much a underwater parachute and definately will slow down the drift when the wind comes up

For a small boat, a 5 gallon bucket with a rope on the handle will slow things down considerably if the wind/current isn't too bad

rig up one line to the bail of the bucket and rig a small eyebolt in the bottom of the bucket so you can attach another line there. When it's time to pull in the bucket pull on the line attached to the bottom of the bucket so you pull it in bottom first.....helluva lot easier than pulling it in mouth first by the bail line....Mike
