San Diegans had the privileged, abused it, so now they are closed.

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Mayor Kevin Faulconer ordered Monday the closure of all city-owned beaches, parks and trails, citing a lack of physical distance among city residents over the weekend.

“I have directed the @CityofSanDiego to move forward with closing all city-owned parks, beaches and trails. There were far too many ignoring physical distancing rules this weekend. The actions of a few can cost the lives of many. Please stay at home, San Diego,” he wrote in a Twitter posting.

How hard is it for people to stay 6 feet away? Is this a math problem that Americans can't judge distance?

They painted lines 6 feet apart at the time clocks where I work. So we stand shoulder to shoulder waiting to touch a screen that 100 people just touched.

And my local grocery just told me they will not bag my groceries in the reusable bags that I bring in. Right after they just touched every single item that I grabbed off the shelf, and then placed on the belt at checkstand...
    I’m dumbfounded!

    > State beaches could be the next to go on lockdown. A spokesperson for the California Parks and Recreation Department told us to expect an announcement within the next day.

Sooo Silver strand is still an option :emoji_grimacing:

From what I read it sounds like the bays will be closed too, at least common access points/ parks.

Also, the 6 feet thing may be bad advice..Chinese researchers think it's airborne up to 15 feet

So does anyone know: can we fish the beach or not? I understand parking lots are closed, primarily to prohibit people from gathering in any significant numbers, but I also saw this:

Lifeguard Division Chief James Gartland said people can still walk, run or ride a bike, as long as they abide by social distancing rules, which advise people to stay 6 feet away from others.

So if we can get to the ocean, alone, can we stand in it and do our thing?

I just saw on the morning news that all beaches are closed and so are state beaches. They showed a surfer that was told that he couldn't surf. They had film of him putting his board back on his car.
$1000 dollar fine and or six months in jail if in violation of being on the beach.

https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=30350 is the most recent update from CA State Parks website. It reads, "As of today, non-campground outdoor areas of parks, including trails and beaches, remain open. Day-use restrooms also remain open, and visitors are advised to bring soap for handwashing and to use alcohol-based hand sanitizers when water is not available."

Go fish by yourself and be happy.

Well, I saw this news story this morning of the surfer being turned away.
It showed the closure sign at a state beach.
Go fish if you want, I'm just trying to give people a heads up.
    Could be fake news.

I can easily see the challenge since the Parks folks aren't necessarily aligned with local law enforcement. I could see an officer issue a citation if you're fishing a beach with a closed sign posted. That's a tough argument to win I imagine.
