Seriously epic, 12 minute battle for @troutmade ! I couldn't believe it when I looked down at the gopro and saw 10 minutes had gone by in a split second. Amazed that we actually landed her! Videos already up and thank you to Werfless for watching my ***. No chumming at SD river apparently! So don't film that...lol

Welcome to the dark side. Beautiful drone footage and editing as always. There are double digit fish in there, and probably a few 20 pounders. Gonna need to size up from 2lb test!

The rocks are full of rats. Don't leave bait exposed.
The bullheads will swarm as dark approaches.

There was one that I got to meet personally a few years back. Not sure if she's still there, though.

Good info! So do carp care what time it is? Could carp be different than other fish, they don't need to hide as much and just suck up everything everywhere....

They just do better in colder water than the local game species. There are times (when they spawn in summer) they WILL NOT eat anything. So, in winter when bass and cats go mostly dormant, the carp just keep on feeding and getting fatter.. lol

Carp don't have stomachs so they eat more consistently than other species. But water temp does affect their metabolism, so the same trend exists with more feeding in warmer temps. How they feed from day to day depends on what food source they're keyed in on.

Carp can be skittish. Stealth is always a plus but stealth manifest different ways.

Trebles are legal.. they do more damage to a fish and offer less hold though on big fish.. all fishing is compromise.. no such thing as the perfect hook.. lol

Fishing is like marriage, friendships, hostile buyouts, government bailouts, working partnerships, foul murder or armed conflict.. find the compromise that works for you and press the advantage.. light line increases bait action and hookups, but decreases the ability to land a fish quickly and safely. Same with a hook.. hook diameter, type and holding power all come at a cost, and a benefit.

Thank God for this forum and the ability to go back and review all this info everyone puts out there. (Which I do often). If not I would have to write it all down. It helps me sooo much! (Did I say that outloud??) OK, enough drunk posting. I better go find something else to do. :emoji_zipper_mouth:
