I needed to check off one of Southern California's newest National Monuments to my growing list of video clips and while doing research on the area I found out about the trout fishing opportunity. I fished the west fork for an hour or so and spent the rest of the time exploring the Monument. I spoke with a National forest ranger when I arrived at the parking area to try and get some info from him regarding regs. He said he wasn't an expert but stated that he knew that apparently no treble hooks were allowed and no live bait other than worms( nothing non native). I began fishing close to the parking area and began getting bites quickly on night crawlers. They just wouldnt stay on the hook very well with the current and small trout. i then opened a jar of Berkley worms and began catching fish( 4 small trout). All fish released. Very beautiful area indeed.Enjoy the clip guys! Any questions on the area i will be happy to answer if I can.

Very nice job Robert! I like the music you used that goes along with the scenery. It's beautiful up there and the slow-mo action shot of you catching that trout was very cool! Love your videos.....Look forward to more in the coming year!

Also guys, If you decide to visit the area, you will drive by 2 other fairly large lakes, 1 of them being San Gabriel Res. Both are closed to any access and have always been for some reason. At the top of the mountain is a small lake( Crystal lake) that allows fishing but not sure what it holds. Just a heads up.The fall is the perfect time to check out the area. Especially on a week day as I was the only one in the parking area.
