    Went out for some nighttime Sand Bass fishing last week. The same cold nights that make it miserable to be out at 1am also mean some fresh bass likely came in from the ocean. Threw 6” bad shad zman swimmerz on a plain 3/4 oz head with 25lb leader/30lb braid on an ugly stik spinning rod. Good bite throughout the outgoing; the best 4 fish went 18”, 2 at 19.5”, and the biggest 22.5”. Always fun ripping them up to the surface to keep them out of the bottom structure. Most fish bit either on the drop, on a very slow retrieve, or on the deadstick.

    Nice fish, I’ve caught 16 inchers out of the surf in Cardiff rock reef. I got them on a sandworm, I was surprised when I pulled out a sand bass

    Very nice ones. I learned to fish with 40lb minimum in some spots. Once I get some nice winter wet gear I'd be down to do a kayak night bay session with you.
