I live in N. Orange County, but come down to poach your beaches when I can:emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:... I love the N. County... I'll be in Carlsbad for a few days, and will be doing a little early morning fishing... I'm not looking for any body's secret bait spot, but would like to know if there have been any sand crabs showing as of late... I'l try to write up a report when I get back...
    Thanks,
    Butch

It's a bit early.. usually start seeing good numbers around mid April to early May.. saw a few at LJ the other day, but I would say at least six to eight feet of sand is gone down there...

I saw several beds loaded with all size crabs a few weeks ago. It was a beach much farther south than Carlsbad though.

Haven't seen any beds yet from O-side down to Cardiff.

I still have some frozen from last year that I've thrown out occasionally with no response. (But that ain't sayin' much, I haven't got much of a response on anything lately!) :emoji_angry:

    Cheers and good luck!

I'm pretty sure you can get crabs in Oceanside and Carlsbad, not sure about finding sand crabs.

If I find any while I'm down there, I'll post about them on here...

Found a few beds of small crabs in Carlsbad. Nothing big enough to hook. IMG_20190316_142021.jpg
    I didn't find any fish .
Going to fish Cardiff tomorrow at sunrise.

Wasn’t sure if I would sleep in or not, but I’m up so I think I will head out there too. Cardiff on up to Carlsbad this morning.
PM me if you (or anybody) want some company covering the beach.

I found tons of dink sand crabs, but nothing usable. No blood worms at Pacific Coast Tackle, so it looks like Gulp Cami Sand Worms for me in the AM.

I went to the beach near Tamarack yesterday with family. Found lots of 4-5mm crab beds. We'll see, we'll see.

These are micros, not even a “mini”. I’m using a #8 mosquito hook, and they won’t even fit on that.. The bait net I use to catch them has a 1/4” mesh net, and with hundreds passing thru it, not one stuck..... Looks good for the future though. :emoji_wink:
