I plan on fishing Santee Lakes on Monday morning for the first time. I will be doing (as of now) some flipping, drop shotting, and big-ish swimbaits. Any advice on new tactics or areas to specifically hang around?

If you wanna throw swimbaits, don’t bring anything else, stick with it.

I think that’s my plan right now. Just swimbaits and glidebaits!

For Trout, find a guy with an Orange bucket and post up right next to him! Sure thing!

If swim baits stick with them. Go weedless if possible. Fish lake 3 west side upper corners. Weeds are disappearing after recent weather so drop shot 6 to 8 inches with swamp crawlers or Robo worms work great I tend to do well on lake 5. Senkos and Fat Ikas work well. Just make a few casts in each spot then move on. Stay mobile I usually will get my 10,000 steps in easy. Catch and release on the bass. You can get some decent trout on the drop shot too. FYI during the week you can park outside and walk in at 0600 and purchase your permit at 8. I plan on having a plan on how to fish the lakes and stick to it. 607 bass caught so far this year and most of them in Santee lakes Murray and Miramar and the year isn't over yet. I hope this helps see you out there buddy. Robo

Hit up the SD river honestly. You will have much better luck then any of the city lakes/reservoirs, especially at this time. I have been skunked 5 trips in a row at Santee.

It won't pick up until mid February at Santee lakes for the bass. I'm headed to the big bay in the mean time. Ok maybe tossing a drop shot at the lakes too. I know the bass are on vacation but need to burn some calories and some bass too.

My green bucket was used as as seat when I bass fished in lake boats decades ago. The orange bucket is the answer for trout!

Tough fishing there right now. Weeds are gone but water is real dirty, Try senko wacky rigged.

Confirming conditions are brutal right now. Got out there yesterday and fished for half a day before calling it without a bite. Threw everything in the box from fast to slow, aggressive to finesse. No baitfish or bass to be seen. Water visibility was about a foot and a half, and not too many structures to really try and hone in on bass that might be laid up on them. Probably won't be headed back until pre-spawn when things pick up. Going to be hitting the bay instead to get my fix in.

I caught 3 dinks on the drop shot nothing else worked. I was hoping for a rattle trap bass but no go. Not even a nibble on lakes 1 2 3 and 5. Happy New Year I can't wait until the prespawn.

What plastic were you throwing? Threw some Bio Spawn Plasmatails and Zman Finesse Shadz both on a DS without results.

Zoom Swamp Crawlers Green pumpkin 5" above 3/16 DS Cyl weight slow and low no jiggle. I've been doing better on Murray. You can usually get the swamp crawlers on Ebay for around 6$ with free shipping 25 worms per pack. Wait 3 to 4 weeks and try senkos same color Texas rig weightless Plus Rattle traps gold chrome or red. Good luck.

    241C1CC6-5B7A-4E72-8F09-EC1604D207EE.jpeg Use JERKBAITSSSSSSSSSSSS!
I HAVE CAUGHT LIKE 20 BASS IN THE WINTER THERE!
I used the megabass ito vision 110 or 110 jr in pro blue.
Earlier in the winter they are schooling on mud ledges in lake 3 and later in winter go to lake 2 and bomb your jerbait to the middle.
