Fished LJ w/Cort. Launched ~ 0630, landed ~ 1445. The 20” rf was caught on a squid-baited octopus jig (~ six to eight ounces). One rf caught on a squid-baited sculpin bomb. One rf caught on a squid-baited shrimp fly. Near session’s end, hooked something more significant than the 20-inch rf. I noticed that it fought much longer than a rf, but it was only strong intermittently. Near the surface, however, something snapped the 25-lb. leader like thread. Then I saw a keeper rf on the surface with my shrimp fly in its mouth. I think I had a double hook-up, but I don’t know what the other fish was. Maybe I got sharked, but I don’t remember anything on the fish finder, and there were no seals in the area. I think I had a double, the second fish was not a rockfish, it was big - but its fighting was restricted by being double-hooked with the rf - and it panicked near the surface. Pretty interesting that the leader broke/was cut in two places, separating line from leader and separating the mystery fish from the floating rockfish.
