Thought I would share some pictures and a little info on how the bite has been for us in San Diego Bay over the past few months. July started with a slower spotted bay bass bite then we've used to. We were still averaged 20-30 fish a trip but had to work hard and fish slow for them. Ned Rig TRD's was the hot ticket. Thankfully what we lacked in quantity we made up for in quality with lots of legal fish in the mix. As the water warmed into August the bite really took off and we are back to averaging 35-50 fish on our half day trips. At the front of the bay the mixed Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Spotted Bay Bass, and Halibut bite has been a ton of fun around the Zuniga Jetty area. We have been throwing hard and soft jerkbaits for a nice mix of all four species. The Mud Marlin fishing has been excellent all summer with some huge butterfly rays and MONSTER shovelnose making a showing. Lots of other odds and ends sharks and rays including leopard sharks, brown smoothhound sharks, soupfin sharks, banded shovelnose sharks, thornback rays, diamond rays, and we even caught accidentally caught a Sea Turtle!! That was definitely a first! But the real highlight over the past two months has been the corvina fishing. We've been catching up to a dozen a trip with some really nice fish mixed in! I think we've had 4 in the 5-8lb range over the past few months with plenty of 2-5lbers and more pan size than we can count. All in all it's been a fun summer for us and our clients and we're looking forward to what the next few months has in store!

Nice getting the whole family in there for some great memories, keep them fishing and the family will have something to talk about at the dinner table.
Some real nice fish you got there.

Damn I’m jealous. Always cool to see a soupfin caught in the bay.

Thanks and great photo's/write-up. You're right about the vinas. I'm just not getting any, (so far) of that weight and quality!
