Me and Rude Baits decided to hit SD Bay this afternoon and search for some new water. Started kinda late. On the water at 1:5o P.M. We launched from Spanish Landing and kicked over to the Harbor Island. Started throwing the Prototype lure we have been testing and had no real takers. Lots of short bites today. And I mean A LOT. The new bait however stood the test of time! Good news for us. I switched over to a 3in Smoke Dawg colored Rude Bait swim bait and connected within a few cast. We seemed to have more action in the middle of the slips not actually in the slips today. We also fished the channel between Spanish Landing and Harbor Island and found a few fish as well.

Fishing was kinda slow today but we stuck it out and caught fish. I can't complain. Nice day out on the water. 72 Degrees, slight wind and sunny. Water was said to be 61 on NOAA. Tide swing was super weak today. We tried up by the rocks and I don't think we had a single bite. Smoke Dawg and Purple Passion were the colors of choice and we only landed fish on the swim baits today. Saw DFW talking to people on the rip rap shoreline. Didn't see too many people out and didn't see anyone else catch anything. Only saw a little bit of bait at the end of the day on the Spanish Landing side. Off the water at sunset. Very peaceful and relaxing day in the floating lazy boy. Tight Lines

Nice. Last time I fished SD bay it was SL. Most of my fish came from the slips.

Looks like he not only swallowed but almost chat out that swimbait in the first photo!

I love tubin Spanish. Next time you go, it's a kick and a half, but go deep into the docks towards the Sheraton. Much more action over there.

DO you still have to launch on the beach on the northwest end of the cove or are there places to slide in on the other side?

I've seen people launch and land off the rocks before. They're friggen crazy. Unless your one of them, the beach is the only option.

Got it. I launch off the rocks at Quivera but I know found a spot with somewhat of a shelf that makes it easier. Definitely easier now that I have a better tube. It was interesting to say the least with my old sit in tube where the legs go through.

Launching off the rocks at seaport village is how I ruined my last pair of waders. Fun trip though.
