    Solar. Never pay SD&E again.... we made the switch living in the East County. No more $400.00 summer bills... been the best move we have made. Its not for everyone, if you dont use much then its not cost effective. If you live where its hot and run AC 8 months of the year then its really worth it.

    I just make the low income thing. I
    Think they give me 30% off. You probably don't qualify but you can check.
    My bill is still to high.
    Now my water bill is over $100 in just fees. Can't believe it.

    Listen to Linebig...I got him hooked up with Solar. Electricity and water NEVER go down...they only go up and will continue to go up. Especially with 100,000 homes in San Diego that have gone solar, they still need to make the same "monthly nut" with 100,000 fewer homes. It's just going to keep going up. PM if you want to talk about solar.

    Dude!!! No kidding! Cant say enough! Same bill every month! And this past year entire year... end of the year... no added SD&E charge from using more than we produced! Damn straight! Saving coin for the rest of my days....

    That's why I went solar, my bill is due once a year in May for the electric. My bill due in May will be just over 200 for the whole year. I still have to pay a fee for having solar, a surcharge for using their power at night. When they were pushing for home solar they said it would help to keep from building new power plants. They are still building small peak power units, and crying about people who have gone solar.
    When storage batteries come down in price and size I'm there.

    I'm about to square up with SDG&E. Last year my bill was $42. The company I work for does the Tesla and Sonnen whole house battery systems. Only done a handful as of yet but this year they're pushing hard to get it mainstreamed. If you're an early adopter...get on board now.

    We have the panels for about 5 years, the first year we had a credit, so we didn't pay anything that year. Next year about 100. We live near the wild animal park and last two summers were hot. We have 16 panels, we had to run the AC at night at times just to sleep well. So we had to pay about 200 the last two years.

    That's still solid production. We all know the AC is the most expensive thing to run. Right now at 2 weeks from squaring up I'm sitting at about 800KW in excess power. I'm farther up the hill in Ramona so I know about getting hot in the summer.

    I should of paid more attention when the rep. was here looking at our bills. Looking at our bills he said 16 would be plenty per our bills. I didn't tell that we were conserving electricity at that time and trying to save on the AC. With the panels now we run the AC more so about 200 a year isn't that bad.

    Don't forget that the monthly service charge went from $5 to $10 /month so $120 of that is your monitoring fee/grid tie fee. So, $65 for the year is pretty good. I'm happy for you Larry.:D:D:D

    my email today:

    "Electric rates are being adjusted to reflect the costs of service provided to customers. The costs of providing safe, reliable energy include ongoing investments in the technology, infrastructure, equipment and the people required to build, maintain and operate the regional power grid. It’s also for the wires, meters and services used to deliver energy to homes and businesses.

    The California Public Utilities Commission approved electric rate increases to fund these costs. The reasons for this change include costs for new power lines, upgrades to substations and higher prices forecasted for natural gas. There’s also a true-up for actual expenses versus what was projected for 2016."

    Average Rate as of 8/1/16 (¢/kWh) Average Rate as of 3/1/17 (¢/kWh) Rate Change (¢/kWh) Percentage Rate Change (%)
    2016 = 22.6¢
    2017= 25.0¢
    2.4¢ 10.6% increase

    It's bull sh it. They need to make the same money to satisfy their investors and pay their pensions...all the while having 100,000 less customers to charge....they have no choice but to raise fees.

    I just signed up for a new electric plan today, its $50 per month for up to 1,000 kWh. 14 cents per kWh after that but we only barely exceed 1,000 kWh 4 months out of the year, and that's running the air/heat on auto mode 365 days per year.
