    Hello,

I went to TP last friday and gave up after an hour due to the amount of seaweed.
Is there a way to predict that the seaweed will be a problem? Maybe some current or swell forecast?

What do you experienced guys do when there's lots of seaweed in the surf?

    Thank you.

When the grass is bad, I fish exposed rocky areas, sometimes the rocks will shed some of that crap when the sand holds onto it. High outgoing tide will tend to be the worst salad...

All you can do is walk the beach to look for some open water, if it fills with junk, move again. Last resort, I drive to another beach if have the time, otherwise pack it in for another day.

This website has live webcams set up for a few select beaches in SD. This is as close as I’ve come to predicting grass conditions.

It’s not 100% accurate since the camera view is limited to just that single lens, hence 99% of the shoreline is not captured.

Just a tool for reference. There nothing like being there physically at the beach for 100% accuracy.

Forming your own surf code group with a few other guys who fish fairly often would probably be pretty nice. You could just text one of them and ask about conditions in their area.

Otherwise, I just try to move a few miles if the time or the crowds/parking allow for it.
