Got out this am 5:45-10:30am. High tide around 6:15 and outgoing after that. Breaking in a new reel this morning, okuma RTX. Felt pretty nice and much nicer to throw hardbaits on a lightweight reel. Went 4 for 6 on corvina, all on the flash minnow, they weren't interested in topwater. For the ones I missed, one absolutely ripped drag for 30 seconds and then popped off, the other shook the hook right at my feet, as I was going to net it. Kept one that took a tumble on the rocks. Biggest one of the day I unhooked while still in the water, it was probably a solid 24-25", felt like the same fish that popped off a few casts earlier.

They really are amazing fish...beautiful, and they fight pretty damn hard. Not alot of fish from shore will pull like they do

Meat looks almost identical to yellowfin croaker. I'd day YFC tastes better, but corvina is still pretty good. Tastes more like a saltwater fish than YFC in my opinion. Yfc taste almost like lobster. I'd probably rather eat YFC and have less qualms about killing one of them, but beer batter corvina with tartar sauce is pretty good...

Looking for them again this morning, no dice so far. Not much bait visible today. Couple of Mack's on the topwater but not exactly the fight I'm looking for lol

It's been like that around here too. One day the vina will be showing all over the place, the next day no sign of them at all

Like night and day. Fished the same areas with the same lures. There was not much bait moving today, yesterday was wild. I talked to a few other guys who said they hadn't caught much there or other spots in SD bay. So it goes. Ended with 3 Mack's, tossed two back and gave one to a dude who pulled up soaking bait. Might have to hit the surf tomorrow...got a couple new okuma long rods I have only had the chance to fish once

Based on a conversation I just had with a lifeguard in Mission Beach you should be good to go with that surf fishing tomorrow
