I have serious doubts that any of them were released.

20150331_111659.jpg Released or not, it sucks to see a fish with 3 treble hooks in it.

Single treble up front with the barbs crimped works just fine.

On another note I tried out my brand new Lew's BB2 inshore reel last week and on the 2nd cast I caught a 5 lb. corvina, the 5th cast was a 3 lb. corvina. Both released and hopefully this reel will be good luck for me. BTW it really is a nice reel and built for saltwater.

Of course it wasn't in MB since the fish have lockjaw when I put my kayak in the water!

Nice fish, I would have eaten them for sure. Ignore the cry babies, they live with the moms and eat at Tacobell.

Wow nice fishhh! Along the topic of 3 treble hooks opposed to 1, I recall a day and age when treble hooks were looked down upon by people who C&R. However, I think the popular opinion of using treble hooks, due to the higher chances of hooking up, won over. Maybe we should not be using hooks at all.

When I was young and curious, I went up to a surf fisherman and asked him how he was catching the fish (sharks). He showed me his 3 ounce pyramid weights and told me that when he throws his bait in the water, the fish come and get knocked unconscious by the weight and he brings them in. Of course I was not too bright because I never guessed how they were brought in after he suckerpunched these sharks on the head.

Anyways great job catching the corvina!

I don't live with my mom or eat at Taco Bell, at least not in the last several months lol. But I'll accept the crybaby remark. Sorry, I care.

My Mom and Dad passed away over 25 years ago. I have been an executive chef at world class fishing resorts. No taco bell for me.

Some of the people who post on this board act like SFC's are some rare species or something. You have a guy who caught 4 of them in an hour and a half. I started fishing the Big bay in 2005, and I've caught hundreds of them. I've eaten a few of them too. Nice pink meat that stays moist and flaky when cooked. Makes an AWESOME fish taco! It's amazing how people jump on some sort of bandwagon and label something "Taboo". If I want to eat a SFC, and it's not illegal, what the heck do you care? If I want to eat a bonefish, I can do that too! I agree with what Fishtricks posted. Everything in moderation. You have to let people use their own discernment- especially since it's their legal right to keep it if they choose. I would question if someone was keeping more than the legal limit- or if the fish was some sort of rare species (that would probably be protected anyways), but if the guy wants to keep a few corvina for table fare, then that's his prerogative.

Sargo- GOOD JOB! I hope you had a blast catching them. Enjoy your spoils!

Nothing wrong with eating a few fish but to be insulted for those who like to catch and release is not cool either.

For the hundredth time, people can eat what they catch all day long. Just because I'd rather see them released doesn't mean I'd bash the guy, which I didn't. I've even played conversation tag with him, so relax. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. Chill pill time.
He caught 4 or more because they are active right now. Ten years ago that 4 or more would have been 20 or more. There's a reason. Look at the last 10 page thread for more info.

OP did not catch 4 corvina in an hour and a half! Look again two fish same day, one each two other days. I will start my short rant by saying I have only ever caught 1 corvina, maybe 14", released. Sargo is obviously a proficient corvina angler and as a regular poster he is well aware of the fact that pics of to-be-filleted corvina, big or small, will illicit some jabs, hence mine! We all know Tricks slips in the jabs from time to time. I would hate to see what he might say if someone found one of his precious trout honey holes and started frying them up! On a side note, I have seen fresh "mexican corvina" at Sprouts, big fillets. Does anyone know where these fish might be caught?

Those are orange mouth corvina caught in baja. There are shortfin in the ocean side of Mexico and orange mouth on the Sea of Cortez side.
